Find out what your quilt costs.
Longarm quilting, priced by the square inch. Put in your quilt’s measurements and the price appears straight away — before you have to talk to anybody.
That is the price for the quilting. If you would like the backing and the postage worked out as well, say so and I will do that too. Nothing you type here is sent anywhere — the price is worked out on your own device.
The rate per square inch — a placeholder, please check it
I could not find a per‑square‑inch price anywhere on this shop’s site, so the figure above is a placeholder and it may not be the real one. Put the right number in and everything recalculates — and then it really is the shop’s price.
Whatever is in these boxes is what the page quotes, and what the copied quote says.
How the price is worked out
It is one multiplication. Your quilt’s width times its length gives you the square inches in it, and every square inch is charged at the same rate — whatever rate is set in the box at the bottom of the price. Trimming the edges is a flat $15. Binding is 25¢ an inch around the edge, with a $50 minimum, and that price already includes the trim. You can check any of it with a calculator.
What the price covers
- Any of several hundred edge‑to‑edge designs. If there’s one you want that I don’t have, we split the cost of the pattern rather than have you guess at it.
- Good thread, solid or variegated. Tell me the colour and I’ll match it to your top, or pick from the wall and I’ll send you photos.
- Computer‑guided longarm, so the pattern is identical all the way across.
- Custom work starts with a picture I draw for you, so you see it before any stitching begins. Changes are fine at that stage.
One thing worth knowing: the backing wants to be about 6 inches bigger than your top on each side, because that is what makes it easy to load. Most people get this wrong the first time, so do not worry about it — and tell me if you would like me to price the backing as well.
How long it takes
Edge to edge is 2–4 weeks from the day it arrives, and it goes in the order it comes in. Custom work is different — we pick a date first, and I’ll need your quilt about a week ahead of that.
Local? Drop it off at the shop on Hope Hill Road, Wednesday through Saturday. Otherwise post it to me and I’ll let you know when it lands.
Some of my work
Dense feather work, bold graphic piecing, and custom figure work. The mermaid one is a custom design — I drew it, then free‑motion stitched it in layers. That’s the kind of thing I do when a customer wants something nobody else will attempt. If there’s a style you’d like to see made, say so.

Thinking about a machine to quilt on yourself
Plenty of people come in thinking they want a machine. Sometimes they do. I sell and service APQS longarms, and both APQS and IntelliQuilter already list me — so I set it up for you, sit down and show you how to use it, and I’m the one who fixes it when something goes wrong. Buy it anywhere else and none of that comes with it.
APQS with iQ robotics
The one I’d steer you toward if you’re quilting often. It runs the quilting pattern itself and comes back to the start by itself when a block is finished.
Which one suits you depends entirely on how much you quilt and how much room you have. It is a short conversation and I am happy to talk it through.
